Minden Hills Zoning Changing to Accommodate Laundry Facility

The zoning in Minden Hills is expected to go through some changes for a new laundry facility.

The official plan in Minden Hills is being reworked for a vacant lot to allow the building and operation of a laundry facility at the corner of Prince and Booth Street.

Charlsey White, the Director of Planning for Minden Hills, says that the location will be an industrial facility and not a laundromat. White says that the facility is expected to go around and get laundry from other businesses and bring it back, clean it, and truck it back to the business.

While talking to the Haliburton County Council, White explained that the location is beyond the flood fringe in Minden. According to White, it is beyond the fringe based on flood mapping done in 1986.

White says that there was due process, adding that there was a number of public consultations about the suggested location of the facility.
