Kawartha Lakes Offering Homeowner Down Payment Program

If you want to own a house one day, Kawartha Lakes might have the solution.

The Kawartha Lakes Affordable Housing Program is offering to help people trying to own a home make that happen with the Home Ownership Down Payment Program.

Hope Lee, the Manager of Housing, says that the program gives up to 10 per cent in down payment assistance. Lee says “We currently have $150,000 in funding still available to assist people in the City of Kawartha Lakes and the County of Haliburton move into homeownership.”

The HODPP is looking to approve four to six applicants by the end of December this year. Anyone that wants to apply for the program must be 18 or older, have a household income at or lower than $76,100, and they must be eligible for financing through a financial institution. Additionally, the selling price of the home you’re looking at has to be $363,127 or lower. The last requirements are that you need to be a first time home buyer and live in Haliburton County or the City of Kawartha Lakes.
