Through all of 2018, Dysart et al’s firefighters responded to 367 calls for service, which Fire Chief Mike Iles explains is a 12% increase in call volume compared to 2017. Iles detailed in a report to Dysart council, the month of July was the department’s busiest month with 69 calls in the month. Also in the report to council was the fact that the department had 32 fire calls which is six more calls than the 2017 total. Iles says that the Dysart department had the most calls of the four municipalities, adding that led to firefighters committing 6,383 hours through the year. At the instruction of council, Iles says he can look into how the hours stack up to other fire departments. The calls in the month of December in both 2018 and 2017 came to 34 total calls.
