SIRCH offering free lunches through February

SIRCH Community Services are trying to brighten up the month of February.

Starting this coming Thursday, the organization behind Cook-it-up and the like is going to be offering free lunch on each Thursday of the month.

SIRCH’s Angelica Ingram tells MyHaliburtonNow.com  although they are hopeful that seniors and people of a fixed income make use of the four-week campaign but adds that everyone is welcome to enjoy the meals.

Ingram says SIRCH felt like doing this program after the Executive Director Gena Robertson had pointed out how tough February can be. Ingram says that a lot of people will stay indoors through the winter, whether that is out of fear of falling on ice or because of road conditions and winter creates isolation for many people.

SIRCH felt that offering people free lunch was a way to reduce that isolation while giving a warm meal through a cold month.

According to Ingram there is no criteria to be allowed in for the meal, and the program goes on February 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th from 11:00am to 2:00pm.
