Murray Fearrey named in first Community Builder Awards

A former reeve and mayor is one of several people being honoured at the first-ever Community Builder Awards night.

Murray Fearrey, the multiple decade head of council, has been named as one of the award winners for an event being planned at Pinestone Resort in Haliburton.

Fearrey is being recognized for his years of service to the community.

For the other awards, Pinestone says the nomination period will open later this month, and people are encouraged to nominate individuals that have “done significant contributions to the Haliburton Highlands” between Pinestone’s opening in 1976 and this year.

People who nominate others will be allowed to be involved in deciding the winner. As well, they will be able to potentially win a chance to win a dinner for two at the gala.

According to Pinestone, the proceeds of the awards night dinner will be donated to the high school’s bursary program.

This is expected to be the first of an annual event honouring community members achievements.
