Rainfall warning in effect for Haliburton County

Rain is on the way to the area.

Early this morning Environment Canada issued a rainfall warning for Haliburton, Minden and southern Haliburton County as well as Fort Irwin, Oxtongue Lake and northern Haliburton County.

The warning comes less than 24 hours after the Bancroft District Ministry of Natural Resources extended the flood warning for the area. Environment Canada is calling for upwards of 15-25 millimetres of rain between Wednesday and Thursday.

The meteorological organization also forecasts that the area could get freezing rain or ice pellets throughout Wednesday morning, and northern parts of the county could see freezing rain return throughout the afternoon.

As of now, the forecast is calling for a chance of rain throughout the rest of the week, with sunshine expected on Saturday.
