No surge of COVID-19 cases in Haliburton County

Local health officials are feeling pretty positive about the situation in the county.

Dr. Norm Bottum said we are really fortunate in Haliburton, because there has been no surge of cases on the system. The hospitals are feeling prepared and are happy that people are doing a good job at social distancing.

There are currently 6 cases of coronavirus in the county.

The first patient was hospitalized with a pneumonia complication last month, and has since been released. Dr. Bottum said the latest individuals were tested in the early days of the Assessment Centre.

Dr. Bottum is pleased to note that the assessment centre is running regularly, and that people are great. He says they are going online and checking their risk and calling and booking an appointment.

The doctor says the guidelines are changing weekly, so if you’re feeling unwell and want to know what to do, start by completing the self assessment online at Ontario.ca/coronavirus.
