The 2020 Wilberforce Agricultural Fair has been cancelled.
The Wilberforce Agricultural Society said in a press release, “the move is in consideration of the community and they appreciate that social distancing may be a long term social measure with various phases, where large gatherings will continue to be discouraged”.
The agricultural fair is a not-for-profit community event and the financial impacts to local and surrounding businesses who traditionally sponsor the fair, are experiencing significant financial duress and the society felt it was “inappropriate to approach them for advertising or contributions” this year.
The Ag Fair budget is in a healthy position, they note, and they can freeze expenses without any reductions for planning 2021, which will keep the fair’s future financially viable.
