Parents to continue home schooling for the rest of the term

With the provincial announcement that school is closed until September, parents face weeks more of school at home.

Local mother of two Corina Mansfield says it has been going very well.

She says teachers understand that parents are busy and trying to work from home. Mansfield says “they’re trying to make sure that we have an opportunity to take care of the emotional well being of our children and that it’s not just an academic focus.

She says with the apps they have in place, it really allows parents to communicate easily and the teachers aren’t pressuring parents. If parents have a week where the kids need more focus on their well being or getting outside, or maybe parents aren’t getting to every single thing they assign, they’re very understanding.”

Mansfield says “big kudos to the teachers and all of the other parents out there who are trying to work from home and home school, and sometimes do it alone”. She says it’s gone very well and she’s confident she can continue with it for a few more weeks.
