Dysart committees look to improve walkways in Village of Haliburton

The Aging Well Committee is taking on a project they hope to see in the Village of Haliburton. The Communities in Action committee brought the issue to council earlier this year, saying the walkways between Highland Street and York Street are a hazard because of their poor condition. Council agreed, but said there wasn’t official action they could take because the landlords of the buildings privately owned the walkways.

Margery Cartwright, from the Aging Well Committee says they’ve contacted the landlords but haven’t received any interested. She says they’re looking into other options like grants or community programs that could fund the project to fix up the walkways. Right now, she says they’re at a stand still, looking for anything that can help. They’re asking for any members of the community who might have some information about how to go about completing the project, to contact them.
