NewsOntario records highest number of new COVID-19 cases since late July SHARE ON: Casey Kenny, staff Tuesday, Aug. 18th, 2020 (Supplied by Pixabay)Ontario is reporting its highest number of new COVID-19 cases since late July.Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Christine Elliott tweeted Tuesday morning that the province added 125 cases over the last day.It’s the largest single-day increase in cases since July 31st, when 134 were reported.Elliott says the new cases are largely the result of localized increases with 17 cases in Peel, 27 in Toronto and 28 in Windsor-Essex.She adds 27 of 34 Public Health Units are still reporting five or fewer cases, with 16 of them reporting no new cases.Ontario added four new COVID-19 related deaths, with the death toll now at 2,793.There are now 40,870 confirmed cases, with 90.8 per cent considered resolved.
