Land Trust celebrates tenth anniversary with more volunteers than ever

The Haliburton Highlands Land Trust is celebrating a big year in 2014, and an even bigger one for 2015. With this year marking their tenth, Executive Director Larry O’Connor says they have a lot of events planned.

They’re hitting the ground running with their annual Nature in the Hood Discovery Days series starting up this weekend. O’Connor says this year they’re offering a passport for the series so people can buy one pass which will get them access to each event throughout the year. He explains another new venture they’re ready to launch soon.

O’Connor says they’re also planning to host other new events like a speaker series, a bowl-a-thon and a golf tournament.

Meanwhile, the Land Trust is also celebrating their volunteer hours clocked last year. More volunteers were engaged in Land Trust projects than ever before.

This year also marks the next phase in the Turtle Road Mortality Project they started last year. A few of the events they offer every year will also change a little this year, like their ‘Voices in the Night’ event will be an ‘Owl Prowl’.
