Aging Well Committee applies for funding today, hopes for Aging Master Plan

Haliburton County’s Aging Well Committee will be applying to Grants Ontario today for 25 thousand dollars. They’re looking to develop a master plan that can help make our communities more age friendly. According to the committee, the plan would be created for each municipality in the county to carry out strategic planning when it comes to addressing senior’s needs.

Chair of the committee, Angela Andrews recently made a presentation to County Council asking them to submit a letter of support to go along with their application. Council agreed and will also have EMS Director, Craig Jones involved in carrying out the plan over the next three years. The County will also act as their banker if the money comes through so they have somewhere to hold it.

The Township of Minden Hills, and the Municipality of Dysart et al have also submitted letters of support for the application. If the application is successful, they’ll have a Steering Committee to oversee the project and make sure the goals are carried out across the county.
