HKPR Health Unit looking for public input on new website

The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit is launching a new website later in 2023 and is looking for input from the community.

Officials say the goal is to deliver a site that’s user-driven, responsive, and accessible. They add throughout the COVID-19 pandemic the HKPR District Health Unit received over 200,000 unique visitors to its website, and over 700,000 unique visitors at the height of the pandemic in 2021. As part of the 2019-2023 Strategic Plan objective to implement a Visibility and Engagement Strategy, a redesigned and redeveloped website was proposed by the Communication Services Department. Now entering its research phase, an online survey has been released asking for community members to provide feedback on their overall website experience and share what features and content are most important to them.

“The way we communicate about public health issues is important and can impact how we influence behaviour change, explain complex health issues, and share emergency information,” said Ashley Beaulac, Manager of Communication Services with the HKPR District Health Unit. “The input and suggestions we receive through our online survey is an integral part of ensuring our new website better serves our communities moving forward.”

The HKPR District Health Unit’s new website will provide a clear and user-friendly design, mobile responsiveness, easy-to-find information, events, classes, and clinics calendar, improved data and reporting structure, and better communication capabilities so individuals can stay informed.

The survey is available online until Monday, May 1.
