Winter Games put close to $400,000 directly into local business, says Chair Alan Clark

The Ontario 55 plus winter games committee is reporting another successful year. The games took place last week for the second time in Haliburton County. Committee Chair, Alan Clark tells us how many visitors were in our community, and how it was different from the last games:

Clark says they had a lot of positive feedback from participants and local businesses. He explains how much money he thinks would have gone directly into the community:

Clark says the big difference this year was adding a “Taste of the Highlands” tour on the middle night of the games, where 13 restaurants across the County provided dinner for the participants.

About 240 participants filled out a survey about their experience, and according to Clark, and Games Manager, Myke Malone, a lot of people said they planned to return to the area. Clark explains another benefit about Haliburton County hosting the games:

Clark says the games have helped prove that Haliburton County is capable of holding events like this. While the next games haven’t officially been announced, they’ll be looking for bids and sponsors for the next run in two years.
