The Municipality of Highlands East will be submitting an application to the province to try and recover some of the additional costs incurred during the spring ice storm.
According to staff, while the municipality was not as heavily affected as other areas of the County, more than $16,000 in unbudgeted costs were incurred during clean-up efforts.
Most of those costs were associated with the rental of a wood chipper, and use of an excavator.
Under the Municipal Ice Storm Assistance Program, the municipality is eligible to be reimbursed up to 75 percent of those unbudgeted costs. Affected municipalities have until Oct. 31 to submit applications.
