This spring, SIRCH Community Services is inviting local gardeners to Grow a Row for SIRCH.
Officials say the initiative encourages gardeners to plant an extra row of vegetables – such as cabbage, beans, onions, cauliflower, and other fresh produce – to help support meals prepared through the SIRCH Community Kitchen. Donations will help the local organization, which prepares thousands of meals each year for residents across Haliburton County facing food insecurity.
According to officials SIRCH is currently looking for about 20 gardeners to participate in this pilot program. Participants would receive basic growing guideleines, planting timelines and crop suggestions, seeds donated by Country Rose Flowers & Garden, plus tips and guidance from local master gardeners.
