New technology allows you to ‘donate’ your news feed for Amber Alerts

Haliburton Highlands OPP is letting people know about the new technology available to enhance Amber Alerts.

It’s through social media, where you can sign up to have Amber Alerts automatically post to your news feed on Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn. It’s called Social Horse Power, and you have to give permission in order for it to post to your feed.

The information is based on location, so only alerts in areas relevant to where you are will be posted. It’s described as “donating your news feed” so Amber Alerts can be broadcast to a greater amount of people.

To sign up for the program, click here.
