OPP Deputy Commissioner says their data is clear when it comes to summer safety

It turns out people aren’t being safe enough when it comes to two of the most popular summer activities.

OPP is reporting that 80 per cent of people who died in boating deaths in the past year weren’t wearing a lifejacket. With those statistics, Deputy Commissioner Brad Blair says the information is clear.

Their numbers also show that alcohol leads the list of factors in off-road vehicle incidents.

Blair says mixing alcohol or drugs with these activities or driving carelessly means you won’t be prepared to survive an unexpected turn of events on the water or trails.
