Health Unit warns about rabies in bats

The number of bats with rabies in Ontario is very low, but they’ve been found in the Brighton area so our local health unit is telling us to be cautious.

If you see a bat, avoid contact, and call a pest control company to remove it. Rabies can be transferred to humans if they are bitten, scratched or licked by an animal that has it. However, there is a vaccine.

The health unit has instructions about bats on their website.
