A Place Called Home planning a fundraiser

A Place Called Home is hopeful funding will come through from the County. But the not for profit charity is still in need of more money to help clients get through the winter. A branch of the charity opened in Haliburton County last summer and has helped over 133 people with finding a place to live, securing firewood and home heating oil. But Program Coordinator Tina Jackson says the group can help with re-connecting hydro, as well as get legal documents like birth certificates and social insurance cards needed to get a job. A fundraiser is being planned and Ms. Jackson is hoping provincial funding expected in the spring along with $6,000 from the county, will help them continue to help residents in need.
