Scott says government needs to address gaping hole in criminal justice system

Laurie Scott says the provincial government is far too silent about the gaping holes in our criminal justice system. Local MPP and PC Critic for Women’s Issues says there needs to be more support to parole and probation officers.

In response, the Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services says there are assessment and monitoring tools in place for offenders. He also says there is a joint working committee between the Ministry and the union to address the work load.

Scott says the amount of money the government spends on monitoring offenders is the second lowest in Canada.
