Nicotine Replacement Therapy is showing double the quit rates for people trying to stop smoking.
In 2015, the Haliburton-Kawartha-Pine Ridge District Health Unit got over $22,000 in funding through the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. They used $16,000 to buy nicotine replacement products to help people quit in the community. They gave $5,000 to Fleming College to help students get these products.
This year, $30,000 was used to help people quit smoking. So far, they have helped almost 100 people in the community.
