Haliburton Beer Store accepting empties as donations towards new skate park.

Your empty beer cans and bottles can help support a community project in Haliburton Village.

The project is a new concrete skate park by the ball diamond.

Skate Park Committee member Matt Richardson says the Beer Store is supporting their fundraising efforts.

Richardson says he cannot wait to try out the new park.

Richardson and the skate park committee have been active in fundraising the last couple of years.

The new skate park would replace the wooden structure, which is next to the bridge on Maple Avenue.

So far, the Skate Park Committee has raised between $130,000-$140,000.

Richardson adds you need to mention when you exchange your empties that you want to money donated towards the new skate park.

They hope to have the shovel in the ground by late August.
