Jamie Schmale’s lobbying efforts may be paying off.
The Haliburton Kawartha Lakes, Brock M.P. has been concerned over declining walleye population in the riding.
Schmale launched an online petition earlier this year asking the federal government to take action to give walleye a better chance to survive.
Schmale says progress is being made.
Schmale is hopeful the pilot project will get started soon.

So far, Schmale has over 800 signatures on his petition.
Schmale says a declining walleye population has had negative effects on the riding, especially tourism.
