According to the Minden Fire Department April 1st is the start of fire season.

During the fire season there are specific guidelines and regulations that need to be followed.

Officials say a fire can’t be started until at least two hours before sunset and out two hours after sunrise.

They say a responsible person has to tend the fire until it is put out.

Algonquin Highlands Fire Department has different rules regarding starting a fire and putting it out.

A fire can’t be lit until 7pm and has to be put out by 7am.

Both fire departments say people are responsible on keeping up-to-date with fire bans.
