Matt Duchene was praised for the inspiration he provides young Haliburton hockey players. At yesterday’s Water Ambassadors Canada Charity Golf Classic, Matt talked about his experiences in SOCHI and the NHL.
Matt says he loves supporting charities like this, and hopes to get a chance to go on one of their trips one day.
When asked how he felt about his hometown naming a day after him, he laughed, saying it’s slightly embarrassing, but humbling. He said seeing all the signs and support from home when he was in SOCHI would bring tears to his eyes.
Matt says both him and his dog love heading out on Haliburton lakes and is looking forward to finishing the build of his own cottage in north Haliburton County.
