Highlands East council supports $2300 for Geo Tour

Highlands East council unanimously supported $2300 to a Geo Tour project in the municipality. Joanne Vanier and Mary Barker from the Algonquin Gateway Business Association made a presentation to council yesterday saying the goal is to increase tourism.

Councilor Joan Barton says the success of the project would be easy to track through the Geocache website. Deputy-Reeve Suzanne Partridge says she tips her hat off to the group for organizing it and says it would be a huge benefit to local businesses.

Barker says the project will move forward and will be developed over the winter to have it launched in April of next year. To learn more about Geocaching and how to participate, click here.
