Highlands East looking to purchase new $600,000 pumper truck

The Municipality of Highlands East will be spending $765,000 to replace three fire department vehicles, according to a report presented to council at a meeting on Oct. 14.

In the report, Fire Chief Chris Baughman stated that a new pumper truck is needed for Station One in Cardiff at a cost of $600,000, and that a new rescue pick-up, and ATV are needed for Station 3 in Gooderham at a total cost of $165,000.

Earlier this year, the department replaced the fire chiefs SUV, and repurposed his old vehicle into a rescue pick up for Station 2 in Highland Grove.

At the meeting, council approved Baughman’s request to issue a request for proposal for the new pumper truck.
