The fire danger rating in Algonquin Highlands has increased from moderate to high.
Officials increased the rating on June 1, due to an absence of precipitation across the region.
With a high rating campfires are still permitted. However, daytime burning – between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. – is prohibited at this time of year.
Fire officials remind those who are burning at night to take extra caution and ensure their fire gets full extinguished.
Residents are also reminded to check with authorities regarding local burning rules and regulations.
