Local candidates for MP talk job creation in HKLB

Jobs and the economy is something that’s being talked about across the Haliburton Kawartha Lakes Brock riding, according to local candidates for MP.

Jamie Schmale is running conservative and he says skilled trades is something that affects our riding.

Schmale also says that at the end of the day, keeping business tax low and allowing people to spend their money the way they want to will help keep the economy going.

Liberal candidate David Marquis says taxing the rich a little more, and giving a tax cut to the middle class will be a driver to create jobs. He says that support for our municipalities will also create jobs.

Marquis says that the future of our riding is in home-based economy and small business, and the governments have a role to play in helping them.

NDP candidate Mike Perry also believes economic instability is something that’s being felt across the riding. He says support for small businesses is something he wants to see.

Perry says his good local jobs strategy also includes bringing manufacturing back, supporting farmers, and bringing in more training centres.

Meanwhile, the Green Party candidate, Bill MacCallum says tourism is a huge untapped market in Canada, which needs to change. He also says that when it comes to creating jobs, investing in small businesses is the way to go.

MacCallum says another initiative to help create jobs in our riding is giving incentive for more apprenticeships.
