If you get a job offer online, it could be too good to be true.
OPP is reporting that a resident from City of Kawartha Lakes got an offer of employment after applying online. They were asked to fill out a form including a social insurance number and banking information. The person was skeptical, so called the company directly, and it turned out they never posted the job in the first place.
Police believe if the person had filled out the information, it would have been used to remove money from their account. They’re sending the message to all residents to be aware of the new spin on this typical fraud.
