OPP is confirming one person is dead and they are still searching for an armed suspect near Wilno. Early this morning police found a person dead on Szczipior Road in Wilno. Officers then went to a second location on Foymount Road in Cormac. The OPP Emergency Response team and tactics and Rescue Unit are on the scene. Residents in the area are being asked to stay inside their homes and report any suspicious activities or people to police. Highway 512 remains closed.
OPP has reported that schools in Madawaska Valley are on lockdown but there is no threat to children. For schools in the Bancroft area, Hastings Prince Edward School Board Communications Officer Kerry Donnell says schools are in a hold and secure. They are expecting students to be dismissed as usual.
